    I love both the way trucks leave ruts in the grass as they travel over the same spot so many times and watching the trucks go around the ghosts instead of their normal paths.

    Those Dupes were making me laugh so hard in that Cool Steam Vent. I'm not sure you noticed but they were all going after the sandstone, getting out of the scolding water, dropping the Sandstone and going in a loop, all trying to gather that one piece of Sandstone, then they found one next to the Vent and you had to fight both circles of Dupe Gymnastics and it's probably one of my favorite parts of this game!

    I tend to run cold water into my SPOM when possible and run the cold water through radiant pipes as it passes your oxygen output in order to cool the oxygen down to well under 30c by the time it gets to the base. Not necessary if you build a base cooling loop but it is great if you're not quite ready for a cooling loop yet! One thing I love about this game is that there are hundreds of different ways to build your ultimate base :D

    I wonder if you could achieve the same kind of cooling with just 3 more blocks of height, by adding another steam turbine and expanding the steam room. to the full length of the cooling and then using 3 tiles below the volcano for the cooling loop, would seem like you would spend less energy on cooling the igneous rock down while still pulling out a lot of the temperature. i also realized that most doesn't provide a temperature that will melt steel technically allowing you to put conveyor rails behind the volcano 1x,1y and 1x ,2y, 0,0 being the bottom left of the vulcanos neutronium base.

    Have you considered implementing a heat-based water purifier? It's fairly easy to make even with early tech, at a certain relatively high temperatures germs in polluted water die off. You can use heat exchangers to cool down either oxygen or just straight water and run the cold pipes wherever you want to cool things off, effectively moving the heat from anywhere in the base into the exchanger room- which you fill with polluted water to kill off the germs and make it clean so you can unpollute it. At a higher tech level you can make the exchanger out of a strong material that doesn't break at water's evaporation point and also have the exchanger double as a water-depolluter, exchanging so much heat from elsewhere in the base that the water turns to steam; which you can then run through a second exchanger to cool it back down into water. At UBER high tech level you can even run the steam instead through a steam turbine to turn that heat directly into power.

    @9:55 if you put the co2 vent in the top left, it'll be more efficient at pushing the o2 out. @14:08 mesh tiles are better in case you get a water line break, the water will drop to the bottom which is easier to clean out. If you also make the four tiles above the hydrogen pump one row higher you can lock the airlock doors and dupes can get in and do maintenance if needed without breaking the h2/o2 balance.

    Always good to see a return to ONI. I do have some critiques of your schedules that you show at 8:05, with explanation: #1: 3 sleep blocks. A dupe will head to their bed at the start of the first sleep block, unless occupied in a recreation task (in which case, they'll finish that first, then head to bed), and will remain in the bed until the *later* of reaching 100% stamina or hitting the end of the last sleep block. If you watch your sleeping dupes, they are almost certainly hitting 100% stamina after 1-1.5 hours. Note that they will absolutely sleep into work blocks if they haven't reached 100% stamina. #2: The classic "downtime first or sleep first" issue. Personally, I come down on the side of downtime first. Dupes get the morale bonus from downtime blocks spent traveling, doing bathroom>food>recreation, so I'm absolutely in agreement with putting downtime before bedtime, unless you have certain recreation types (such as beach chairs) that cause dupes to just skip sleep. #3: Dupes will shower during downtime if you give them showers, so the separate shower block is really rather vestigial.

    Slimelung is an airborne germ. Dupes can ONLY get sick from it when they breathe it. Food Poisoning is a contact germ. Dupes can only get food poisoning if they have FP germs on them when they eat (or the food had FP germs). Dupes only shower once during their bathroom break. If you want to stop food poisoning from your compost heap, you need to add a sink or wash basin.

    This map is really well hand crafted. It has a number of "Traps"... like the cool steam vent. If you react to them as soon as they appear on the screen, you can handle them, but if you let them alone, they will become a big problem. Keep your eyes open as you expand.

    22:00 the weakness of this type is that if a dupe releases CO2 while crossin the water lock, it will fill the vacuum, or even displace the small amount of water and break the lock

    Hi. Nice SPOM. But you pump really warm Oxygen in the Base...could be a problem after a while. Also the Hyodrogen-Tanks will need an overflow. I mostly build an additional hydrogen generator which is conneted to my main electrical grid who consumes all excess hydrogen and also relieved my coal generators.

      Good point on the overflow. I will need a lot for a drecko farm and other cooling, but ONI is all about preventing error states. Hot air in the base is a temporary problem as I intend to make a central cooling loop in the next episode

      @@Nilaus you can also put the hydrogen in an infinite storage, after you got some plastic for the high yield vents. (for all who don't know how to build them for gas, just put 10kg of liquid per vent tile and they won't overpressure)

      I would suggest not cooling the h2 with the water and save this cooling potential for the o2. But the heat will be managed by a global cooling system I'm sure, so certainly not essential

      @@Nilaus Also a nice solution is one of there Thermal Cooling Artifacts. Deliver some excess H2 and you have a relaiable cooling solution for a while. I will try your SPOC-Layout next time i play. Also 64er rooms only. But then i have to limit my ranches down to 6 animals. Have you a nice layout or practice for a nature reservoir so that the dups 1 time each day "use" it?

    better to feed SPOM's with 2c water ... it precools the place and then the air stairs about 20c .... perfect t keep a good dupe temp I have to laugh ... IF you used the bathrooms as an airlock and cleaning stations you wouldnt have the germ problem ... and using 10 to 18c water to cool the base instead of HOT WATER ... water takes longer to heat up and is used in many places .chilling it is simple and can be done IN the water ... which keeps the chillers cool ... also spom's are newb stuff ... use the living base as your hydrogen storage ... it auto fills the pace with oxygen and all you need is 2 gas pumps and a filter to sort o2 and h apart ... which can then feed 8 to 10 hydrogen power plants ... and 10 small batteries and a smart battery ... yup small ones as the big ones are twice the capacity of the smart one and will NOT fully charge . run the heavy watt wire outside the main base and junction it in for major machines and transformer it in for basic stuff lie food or research or massages etc

      The water should be as close to 70c as possible to delete as much heat as possible. Cooling the air in the base is easy to do afterwards

      @@Nilaus cold water in cools the spom directly ... which cools the hydrogen which cools the generators... an keeps the heat out ... making it actually cheaper faster and more effective for base temp control because the water pipes work as a radiator while moving the water in the base ... double work for one operation ... and a much smaller build meaning less resources used to do the exact same thing ... I sent your gmail a base design I had that didnt have a dirty name ... but I use it in all my bases and with just meal lice and bristle berry II can run 16 dupes no problem on 2 shifts indefinitely you should look closely at it ... I think it was beautiful committee I sent you ... I went for maximum efficiency with multiple uses because the min max way is inefficient and bulky because it doubles triples and even quadruples the building of the same stuff ... wasting resources time and effort ...

      @@Nilaus THAT is the problem its 70c ... 50c above good base temp... start below and heat it by making hydrogen and it levels out between 18 and 25c which is perfect base temp ... which then feeds around and into the farms keeping them at optimal temp and the base at optimal all while providing base power .. you literally cut your build down to 25% of what you are gong to need to do I honesty figured you would have this all figured out like you have in factorio ... any production that also doubles for other production or needs for very minor additions is ALWAYS better than repeating the same thing 4 5 or 6 times but as they say it is your game to play ... but you did ask for other ideas and what i sent you is 75% more efficient and 75% less material and doing 3 different jobs at once

      @@kaboom-zf2bl cooling the oxygen is easier than cooling the water, and he does not have a source of cold water, only the limited starting water is cold. the only issue/optimization that I see is that the SPOM could be closer to the geiser, the insulated pipes will leak heat, so you want them short. Plus, when you start to want active cooling, you could place the aquatuner in the chamber with the geiser, to cool the oxygen from the spom, and the the oxygen cools the base. also, first time I see someone call SPOMs "newb stuff" and advocate for open plan electrolizers, but everyone can (and should) play the way they want

      the mod is called Diseases Restored it makes them into an actual threat instead of just an inconveniance it means you actually nead to quarantine slimelung areas, until you can make the slimelung cure. But even if there is a "leak", you can still save the dupe if you are fast and did not neglect medicine research.

    i would prefer more asymptotic diminishing returns (first beacon is 100% transmission efficiency, second is 50%, etc), it would make players think more about balancing power consumption and speed
